Meeting the challenge

Psalm 22

In the depths of our soul what do we believe? In Psalm 22 David in his distress cries out “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me? Why are you so far from saving me, so far from my cries of anguish?” Surrounded by the comfortable material luxuries of our hedonistic society how can we measure the depth of our faith?

The evidence is growing all around us that the continuing misuse of the material world is leading to the collapse of this society and may even threaten the very existence of human life on Earth. Then our faith will be tested to its uttermost depths but will it stand this test? Like David we will cry with anguish and must ask for strength for “He hath not despised nor abhorred the affliction of the afflicted; neither hath he hid his face from him; but when he cried unto him, he heard.”
