(7) But you have saved us from our foes and have put to shame
those who hate us... (10) You have made us turn back from the foe,
and those who hate us have gotten spoil...
The
Lord has been the source of both comfort (7) and affliction (10) to the
Psalmist... but still he says:
(26) Rise up; come to our help! Redeem us for the sake of your
steadfast love!
Through
both, the steadfast nature of God's love - constant, unfaltering, certain,
enduring - is trusted.
By
verse 26, the Psalmist seems to be saying: "come to our help, that you may
be consistent with your nature!" or "please Lord: be yourself and win
with goodness!"
While
we are in the midst of the unfolding of his certain triumph - whether painful
or easy - we are to patiently believe in the steadfast character of his love.
