Day 4 of Lent ++++ Dig Deep

Psalm 71     Psaumes 71

Dig deeply into His Word… find out its meaning…

“In you, LORD, I have taken refuge.” ^NIV In You, indeed, “do I take refuge” now. ^ESV

“Je cherche en toi mon refuge.” ^LS In You have I searched for my refuge.

“Je me suis retiré vers toi.” ^Martin I have withdrawn, turned myself, towards you, and so in You “I have taken shelter,” ^NET “I have come to you for protection.” ^NLT

In You, again, “have I waited.” ^{Jubilee Bible 2000} In You “I have hope.” ^{Aramaic Bible in plain English}

You are my refuge, my shelter, my protection, my hope… and so You, too, are the one in whom I have put my confidence, my trust: “En toi, Eternel, j'ai mis ma confiance.” ^Darby In You “do I put my trust”. ^KJV

And so, oh Lord, “let me never be put to shame,” ^{NIV, ESV} “let me never be disgraced.” ^HCSB

“Que je ne sois jamais confus!” ^{Darby, Martin} “Que jamais je ne sois confondu!” ^LS “Let me never be put to confusion.” ^KJV

And that was just verse 1.

The one Church’s many different translations and perspectives need not put us to confusion. Held together in the common search of the one glorious truth, all their nuances may simply reveal it the more brightly…
