Praise the Lord!/ Louez le Seigneur !

Saturday 9th December

How very much there is in our lives for which we can ‘Praise the Lord’! How great is our need to thank Him!  How often has he rescued us from harm, and carried us in His arms in times of trouble!

But how hard that is to keep in mind.  Have I been prepared, when opportunity arose, to tell of His wonders ‘with my whole heart’?

Have I longed for the Lord with such intensity that I would give up Everything for Him?  Would I be prepared to exchange my All for that field of Treasure, or that glorious pearl?  Am I being like Jesus’ neighbours, thinking that I know Him so well after years of Church-going, but not quite taking on board His message, or expecting any miracles?

If only we had such a memory-larder of His wisdom that it would provide constant nourishment:  fresh bread and eggs, with vintage wine and mature cheese!  If only our faith would grow enough with this food to move those mountains of self-centredness holding us back from that total commitment to His service, and whole-hearted witness to His overwhelming love.

Praise the Lord for the Scriptures to guide us!

Est-ce que je suis comme les voisins de Jésus en pensant que je le connais si bien après des années d'Église, mais pas tout à fait à la hauteur de Son message, ou à attendre des miracles ? Louez le Seigneur pour que les Écritures nous guident !
