Psaumes 42 | Ésaïe 28:14-29 |Apocalypse 21.9-21 |Matthieu 13.1-23
The Lord’s plan is wonderful
‘Now
you arrogant men who rule here ..’ [what a rebuke this passage starts out for
us, and our leaders!] ‘You are certain that disaster will spare you when it
comes..’
If
we were to overlay this reading onto current events, such as the conclusion of
the COP26 discussions in Glasgow, it is difficult not to feel the rebuke of
God's wrath on us in the midst of the Climate Crisis.
‘Hailstorms
will sweep away all the lies you depend on, and floods will destroy your
security’
The
recent flooding we have seen in many countries and poignantly on home ground,
in Belgium, are the stark results of the hurt our Earth is suffering. Further,
the passage reminds us that our resources are limited and our wisdom lacking.
Despite our failings, we are reminded of the strong foundation that God
provides, and by reaffirming the cornerstone scripture which we have also come
to associate with Jesus i.e. Matthew 21.42-44; Acts 4.11. We need not despair
when we rely on God: ‘The plans God makes are wise, and they always succeed!’
Let
us be like the wise farmer who uses the right actions to work God's land.
Ce texte nous montre nos fautes et notre culpabilité
dans la crise du climat. Que le Seigneur nous donne le courage et
l'intelligence pour bien gérer la terre. Avec lui nous pouvons réussir.
