It is not too difficult to flick
through the Bible -- the Old Testament in particular -- and find words about
God’s anger and jealousy and how He will wreak vengeance on all those who turn
from Him.
In that same journey through the
Bible, however, we also come across many wonderful verses that remind us of
God’s mercy, His all-consuming love. Psalm 130 is one of those moments of fresh
air: we are reminded that if God wished to keep tally of all our sins, not one
of us would be left standing. This God who is to be feared is a God of
unfailing love who will redeem us from our sins and in whom we can hope.
Der Herr sei uns gnädig.
