Sure Foundations

Sure foundations
Those of us who lived in Britain in the seventies or eighties might remember “Wayside Pulpits”, eye-catching posters put up outside churches and having on them a few words or a short sentence of exhortation, encouragement or challenge for passers-by.  One of my favourites bore the words “Humanity: For best results, follow the Makers instructions”, over a picture of a Bible.  This is what Jesus is telling us to do in this familiar passage.  Just as we cannot expect a piece of elaborate and expensive hardware, to work properly if we ignore the instructions that come with it (or read them and then not follow them) so we cannot expect to enter the Kingdom unless we study God's word and act on it.  This will enable us to build a life with sure foundations in which we will be able to resist the trials, temptations and set-backs that we shall inevitably encounter and come in the fullness of time into His presence.

Carol de Lusignan
Pour une bonne vie humaine, il faut suivre les directions que Notre Seigneur nous a donné.
