Tuesday 1st December
On this day, December 1st 1955, in Montgomery,
Alabama, Rosa Parks refused to give up her seat in the “colored” section of a
bus to make room for a white passenger. This single event is regarded as the
catalyst for the start of the Civil Rights Movement in the USA. (http://www.thepeoplehistory.com/december1st.html).
Eventually discrimination based on race was prohibited by law.
The well-known verses 6-9 “....are not to be regarded as
symbolic. The fulfilment....will be the natural outcome of the presence and the
authority of Christ” (‘Isaiah. Prophecies, Promises, Warnings’ by W.E.Vines,
Lamplighter Books, 1971). Here, then, we have a powerful picture of our
ultimate saved world in which even the animal kingdom lives in peace and
harmony.
Today let us reflect on our troubled world and pray
passionately for justice, equality, understanding, peace and harmony.
