Supporting each other
Se soutenir mutuellement
Does Hezekiah hold God responsible for his suffering? This is a very difficult area to think through: each of us as we go through times of darkness will have to face the same issue and find our own answer. At least for Hezekiah God’s involvement meant that there were limits on what he would suffer (v17; that he would not die, and that his sins would be forgiven) and there were benefits to be reaped from the anguish (again v17). However terrible our suffering, can we continue to walk with God in the belief that one day (in this world or the next) benefits will follow? And, because it is so difficult to sustain faith at such times, will we allow God’s people (in Hezekiah’s case Isaiah if you read the whole chapter) to support us in that walk?
