Isaiah 25.1-9  Psalm 50   Revelation 19   Matthew 12.1-21
Esaie 25.1-9   Psaumes 50   Apocalypse 19  Matthieu 12.1-21

This text from the prophet Isaiah gives us a dynamic picture of a powerful God who shelters and protects his people, to the point of even destroying death itself. And we are given the beautiful promise that finally all our tears will be wiped away.

We live in a time of unpredictability, with challenges - whether global or personal - that may seem insurmountable. This passage reminds us that God is all-powerful, our shelter from the storm.

Although much of the passage is written in the future tense (‘They will…’ , ‘The Lord will …’), the end of verse 8 states ‘The Lord has spoken’. Isaiah knew that God’s plan was already in motion: God had already given his Word.

And so, in this waiting time of Advent, when we anticipate commemorating the coming of his Word into our world at Christmas, we place ourselves into the care of God who is our refuge, and who is preparing a feast of rich food for all peoples (v 6).

‘That day’ foretold in verse 9 is near, we can rejoice and be glad in his salvation.

Why not use verse 1 as your prayer today? Turn to Him and say ‘Lord, you are my God… I will praise your name….’ (Priez aujourd’hui v1 « O Eternel, tu es mon Dieu, … et je louerai ton nom. »)
