Suggestion for Daily Use

Follow the ‘Daily Prayer’ at the side+++Suivez le ‘Prière Quotidienne’. Read the bible passages and then the meditation. Pray, tell God how you felt about the reading and share the concerns of your life with him. Maybe you will continue the habit after Lent. Lisez les passages bible et après la méditation. Keeping an open mind~Een open geest behouden ~ Garder un espirit ouvert

 This passage tells us about how people react to Jesus’s Word. In verses 37 – 39 Jesus is speaking in a metaphor  and is actually offering the promise of the Holy Spirit to anyone who will follow Him. The result is that the crowd is very divided, you have some people who completely believe Him whereas others are sceptics and the worst of all are the Pharisees. The only person who is completely fair about the whole situation is Nicodemus, he is keeping an open mind about the situation, whereas the Pharisees completely dismiss both Jesus and Nicodemus. It’s important to know all the facts before judging anybody: Jesus was born in Bethlehem, but lived in Galilee, so He does fulfil the Scriptures. We should learn from this example and remember to always keep an open mind and accept Jesus before it’s too late.

Deze passage vertelt ons over hoe mensen reageren op Jezus Woord. In verzen 37 – 39 praat Jezus in een metafoor. Hij schenkt eigenlijk de belofte van de Heilige Geest aan iedereen wie Hem wil volgen. Het gevolg is dat de menigte zeer verdeeld is, je hebt sommigen die Hem volledig geloven, terwijl anderen sceptici zijn, maar de ergste van allen zijn de Farizeeërs. De enige persoon, die volledig eerlijk is in deze situatie, is Nicodemus, hij behoudt een open geest tijdens deze situatie, terwijl de Farizeeërs zowel Jezus als Nicodemus volledig verwerpen. Het is belangrijk om alle feiten te kennen voor iemand te beoordelen: Jezus is in Bethlehem geboren, maar woonde in Galilea, dus vervult Hij wel aan de Geschriften. We zouden van deze voorbeeld moeten leren en onthouden om telkens een open geest te behouden en Jezus te accepteren voor het te laat is.
