Hébreux 11:17-31
Now faith is being sure
of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see. Hebrews 11: 1
As I read this passage
with verse one in mind, verse 27 caught my attention:
By faith he (Moses) left
Egypt, not fearing the king’s anger; he persevered because he saw him who is
invisible.
I started
thinking about Moses’ story, everything he witnessed. Plagues in Egypt,
the burning bush, parting of the Red Sea, wandering in the wilderness.
His story is possibly the most epic series of events one could imagine, a
lifetime of witnessing the Lord’s immense power and faithfulness. I don’t
know exactly what was meant by this statement “Moses persevered because he saw
him who is invisible” but what I take from it is a charge to notice the Lord’s
work when it is in front of you. This might’ve been an easier task for
Moses then for us- pretty hard to ignore all the signs and wonders God
performed in his life. But maybe the Lord’s work is more obvious in our
lives than we think- maybe if we could “see him who is invisible” by what he
has done and what he is doing in and around us we could be more “sure of what
we hope for and certain of what we do not see.” Maybe if we lack
perseverance we could be strengthened by simply remembering (seeing) what the
Lord has already done.
So
today Lord let us look at the world around us in faith, expecting to see You-
the one who is invisible, and, being certain that you are at work let us
persevere in our own work to Your glory!
Amen
